DNA Science

DNA, or deoxyribonucleic acid, is a molecule that carries the genetic instructions for life. It is composed of two long strands that form a double helix, held together by pairs of nucleotides. These nucleotides are the building blocks of DNA and consist of four types: adenine (A), thymine (T), cytosine (C), and guanine (G). In the double helix structure, adenine pairs with thymine, and cytosine pairs with guanine.

DNA is found in almost every cell of an organism and plays a crucial role in heredity, guiding the development and functioning of living organisms. It is responsible for passing genetic traits from parents to offspring, making each individual unique. Through processes like replication and transcription, DNA ensures that genetic information is accurately copied and expressed.

The study of DNA has revolutionized biology and medicine, leading to advancements in genetic engineering, forensic science, and the treatment of genetic disorders. As researchers continue to explore the complexities of DNA, the potential for new discoveries and innovations in science and medicine remains vast and exciting.
